SPHERAG Awarded the digitization project for the General Irrigation District of the Canal de Aragón y Cataluña
SPHERAG’s solid track record and powerful technological foundation were key to being awarded the project for the implementation of a remote-control system based on cutting-edge NBIoT and cloud technologies. The system will be deployed across 29 irrigation districts that belong to the Canal de Aragón y Cataluña (CAYC).
This entity, which spans 104,850 hectares, serves 11,088 agricultural operations, over 3,000 livestock farms, and various industrial uses, while also supplying high-quality water to more than 200,000 inhabitants in its area of influence. It is the fourth-largest in Europe by surface area and now becomes one of the world’s largest digitized irrigation infrastructures, offering real-time data and autonomous, intelligent management for its users.
This project positions Aragón at the forefront of irrigation digitization on a global scale, driving efficiency, sustainability, and competitiveness in the agricultural sector.
