SPHERAG participates in Heraldo de Aragón’s World Water Day roundtable
Awareness and digitalization are, now more than ever, the fundamental pillars for addressing global water management. On the occasion of World Water Day, Heraldo de Aragón focused on this issue with a special feature and a roundtable that brought together the main experts in the sector. SPHERAG, through the voice of our CEO, Jesús Ibáñez, had the honor of participating in this meeting, highlighting the crucial role of our technology for water management on a global scale.
The event, held at the newspaper’s new Espacio H, brought together representatives from leading companies such as Aqualia, Amazon Web Services, and Adiego, along with the institutional presence of the Aragon Water Institute. The debate revolved around public-private collaboration, climate change, and the urgent need for greater awareness of the value of this resource.

SPHERAG’s role in agriculture
During the roundtable, Jesús Ibáñez emphasized that, despite its vital importance, the agricultural sector is often far from the latest technological innovations. At SPHERAG, our goal is to bridge that gap by facilitating and streamlining access to digital solutions that not only optimize water management but also generate significant savings for farmers.
“Our goal is to facilitate and streamline their access to technology by providing solutions that also allow them to obtain significant savings, up to 30% depending on the type of crop,” he stated. He also highlighted that Spain is positioned as a world leader in agricultural water management, a position that we must maintain and strengthen with the adoption of intelligent tools.

Aragonese innovation for water saving
Aragon is a clear example that innovation and talent are at the service of resource saving. During the debate, our CEO highlighted a successful local project: “We have a project in which we have monitored from the water intake in the Ebro, through all the processes up to the final drip. Simply by understanding how much was being consumed or lost, we have already saved a third of the losses.”
This success story shows that understanding and analyzing processes are the first step to achieving great things. In a context where technology is essential for the “green transition,” as noted by David Blázquez of AWS, SPHERAG stands as a key technology for water management at Heraldo de Aragón that allows a shift from a reactive to a preventive model. Real-time monitoring, data analysis, and intelligent automation are the tools with which our company contributes to the sustainability of the agricultural sector and the preservation of a resource as precious as water.
