Success story in an irrigation district in Italy
The irrigation district located in Penone, Bolzano, Italy, until recently had an inefficient and unreliable water management system.
Installing the necessary cabling for the infrastructure was complicated, as it involved crossing the village streets, which was costly and frequently caused cable damage, increasing maintenance costs.
Additionally, supervising the infrastructure was time-consuming and was done from a local computer in a rented office.
An Autonomous solution that adapts to each specific need
To address these problems, a comprehensive renovation of the installation was carried out using SPHERAG’s disruptive technology.
The new solution is autonomous and scalable. It is powered by solar energy and does not require the deployment of electrical cabling, reducing the complexity and cost of installation while minimizing associated incidents. Additionally, it uses IoT technology and does not require antennas or dedicated connectivity. The configuration is quick and easy.
- 43 valves
- 1 water meter
- 36 pressure switches for monitoring
- 6 pressure sensors
Safety, efficiency, savings, and convenience
After the installation, this is the feedback we received:
Time and cost savings in installation: SPHERAG’s innovative solution is significantly faster and more economical than traditional solutions, which can take several weeks of work and involve the deployment of overhead or underground cabling, high labor costs, materials, and subsequent maintenance.
Remote and real-time farm control: Now, supervision is done remotely from the SPHERAG platform, which the manager accesses from a computer or mobile device. Communication between the devices and the platform is in real-time, so managers always have accurate information to make decisions. This greater management efficiency has translated into a reduction in dedication time and, therefore, personnel costs.
Safety and efficiency in water use: The digitization of the installation allows monitoring of both the valves and the entire hydraulic installation, detecting incorrect operations and anticipating potentially critical situations thanks to the alert service.
